Creative Journaling
Express yourself through the art of journaling with handwritten quotes and images composed in painting and collage. Reveal what inspires you to be unique and creative in your medium and in life. For artists and nonartists alike. Limit 8
You can take either one or both. They are not a repeat of each other and are not dependent on each other. Here's some additional information: Creative Journaling Overview In the first class we will talk about the class concepts, tools and materials About what creative expression is and isn’t; about process vs. product; and about the freedom to explore. We will do a few simple exercises around various themes and use our notebooks to capture ideas, sketches, and to experiment with images. We will decorate our journal pages, adding colors, thoughts, images, or ideas from the class.
Each class meeting will have new themes and exercises to work with. The classes will include discussion time, exercises, and painting, pasting, writing in our journals.
Notes about supplies:
Some variety of paints and drawing/writing implements to write on, color and decorate your journal pages.
They can be what you have on hand or student grade, inexpensive sets. You will need something to write with on your journal pages maybe permanent markers, or pens, stamps, etc. For the paints, they can be watercolors or other water based paint, liquid acrylic, etc. Optional additions are colored pencils, crayons, pastels, inks & stamps, rub on letters, stencils, etc. Collage elements can include paper in some variety of colors, textures and images that interest you, such as tissue paper, decorated papers, quotes that you find inspiring, copies of photos, tickets, one or two magazines, etc. This is all very flexible and we will talk more about it in the first class. Don't worry about bringing the right thing - it's like having a toy box of possibilities.
